The House of Friendship in Birmingham will be the largest ever in the history of Rotary Conventions. Fitting really as this is a landmark convention – the 100th International Rotary Convention.
It’s set to be a real bonanza of entertainment and a tremendous spectacle; dancers, music, demonstrations, displays, arts, exhibitions, sculptures, a pub, narrow boats and a band stand are just some of what’s on offer.
The theme chosen is Victorian Britain. On entering the House of Friendship you will see a huge water-feature sculpture to celebrate all the previous conventions.
Victorian Fair
In the Hall we have a Victorian Fair with stalls and a traditional Carousel which will offer rides all day.
Pub and Canal Basin
A traditional Victorian Pub will serve traditional beers and ales in a traditional setting alongside a full size original Canal boat.
Entertainment - All Day Every Day
Dancers from around the world including Korea, and more locally from the Birmingham area line up alongside school choirs, bands and musicians
Victorian Band Stand
The band stand will have traditional music and you will be able to sit and enjoy music and entertainment throughout the day.
Main stage
A main stage in the Hall will welcome some of the area’s finest acts and entertainment offering a full day of fun and excitement.
Youth area
We’re keen to show off the youth of Britain and so an area of the House of Friendship will have presentations and demonstrations young chefs, inventors, musicians plus areas for Britain & Ireland’s Rotaract and Interact groups.
Lake Activities
The huge lake outside will be used for live demonstrations including the Royal National Lifeboat Institute (RNLI) and sailing for the disabled charity, Sailability.
